Cathy’s Corner – December 2020

As we wrap up the year, I believe that we’ll all be “talking 2020” for many days to come. When we launched into 2020 with its connotations of clear vision, who could have predicted the year that would unfold? For IT Radix, the year started with a big push to help our clients upgrade or replace not only Windows 7 PCs but also Windows 2008 Servers, which meant literally hundreds of computers and hours of effort.

Cathy’s Corner – November 2020

"As we sail through life, don't avoid rough waters, sail on because calm waters won't make a skillful sailor.” (Unknown)

I have this quote tucked away in a notebook that I regularly use—being the geek that I am, it’s in OneNote (a favorite app), but I digress… As someone who grew up sailing on the waters of North Carolina, it has always struck home for me.

Cathy’s Corner – October 2020

I started my technology career at Exxon back in the late 1980s. While Exxon was not on the bleeding edge of most computer technologies, it turns out they were on the bleeding edge of something—cybersecurity. In general, they were a conservative and cautious bunch which naturally resulted in a high cybersecurity awareness level.

Cathy’s Corner – September 2020

Making sense of the world is different for everyone. We all rely on our five senses to supply inputs to our brains and assimilate them. It’s amazing to see the advances in technology that make computer inputs that essentially mimic what we’re born with.

Cathy’s Corner – August 2020

As we move into August through the “Dog Days of Summer,” I’m grateful to be able to enjoy the time outside even if it’s hot and sometimes sticky. If you’re like me, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to change our summer plans; and as a result, I’ve been doing things around my home.

Cathy’s Corner – July 2020

As COVID-19 continues to impact all of us at work and at home, I’m grateful to be in the “technology business.” It has allowed us to help our clients continue to work despite the challenges brought by the Stay-At-Home Order and more. In our own small way, we’ve been able to help keep our economy going by helping our clients work.

Cathy’s Corner – June 2020

Social distancing and Work From Home (WFH) have become the new norm.  We hope that this edition finds you happy and healthy.  As we make our way through this unusual time, we’re looking ahead to new technologies that will make the transition between home and office seamless while fostering continued communication and collaboration.

Cathy’s Corner – May 2020

COVID-19 and the Stay-At-Home Order has changed the way we work for the foreseeable future. Thankfully, at IT Radix, we regularly plan for working remotely—for some of our team, working remotely is the norm. Each fall, we have everyone test their ability to work remotely in preparation for snow days.

Cathy’s Corner – April 2020

As we enter a new norm as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, I’m grateful for the knowledge and technology that we have available today, and I’m sure even more new and wonderful inventions will come out of this experience.

We’ve spent the last few weeks of March assisting our clients getting up and running to work from home while at the same time keeping their security in mind.

Cathy’s Corner – March 2020

I really like the quote from Helen Keller in this month’s newsletter:

“The only thing worse than being
blind is having sight but no vision.”
— Helen Keller

I remember reading the story of Helen Keller sometime in my youth.
