Cathy’s Corner – June 2023

In 2020, Doug and I had planned to visit Peru and a small part of the Amazon rainforest. Sadly, our trip to Peru has been postponed indefinitely. June 22 is National Rainforest Day—so, in lieu of actually going to Peru, I plan to take advantage of the many wonderful resources online to explore the Amazon rainforests virtually.

Cathy’s Corner – May 2023

I recently stumbled on the 1990’s song, Anybody Listening? by Queensrÿche. This song struck me because it challenges you to think for yourself and analyze what you’re hearing behind the words—difficult stuff these days with the amount of information available.

Cathy’s Corner – April 2023

I don’t really remember the first Earth Day celebration in 1970. As the child of a scientist with an environmental focus, taking care of our planet and helping to support beneficial environmental initiatives has always been important to me. Sadly, many don’t see the need to protect Earth’s natural resources for future generations and choose to focus more on the here and now.

Cathy’s Corner – March 2023

I lived in a suburb of Washington, D.C. from 8th grade until I moved to New Jersey many years ago. The FDR quote here, reminds me of the various outdoor monuments and memorials that I enjoyed visiting. The memorial to Franklin D. Roosevelt wasn’t built until after I moved away, but it has become one of my favorites.

Cathy’s Corner – February 2023

If you’re like many, you made some new year’s resolutions or goals. How are you doing with those? Those who know me know that I always strive to improve, both personally and at work. It’s natural for me to set a goal or intend to do something but often, unless it makes its way onto my schedule, other things will take precedence.

Cathy’s Corner – January 2023

As we move into 2023 and IT Radix launches an official Sustainability Program, I’m reflecting on something my son said to me once when I made him take something out of the trash and move it to the recycling bin… “Why do you care so much?” Having grown up in New Mexico, North Carolina, and Virginia during my younger years and now New Jersey and Vermont, I’ve spent a lot of time outdoors.

Cathy’s Corner – December 2022

As I wrap gifts for the upcoming Christmas holidays, I reflect on how fortunate I am to have a wonderful family, friends to enjoy, and a great team of people to work with in a profession that I love. It’s so easy to lose sight of this in the day-to-day bustle of the world, especially at this time of year.

Cathy’s Corner – November 2022

Since our inception, IT Radix have been recycling e‑waste even before it was popularized. My family has always focused on environmental issues and enjoys spending time together outdoors, especially sailing.  We are environmentally conscientious consumers and are big fans of reusing what we have at hand… it’s in our DNA. So, partnering with Green Vision for electronic recycling is a match made in heaven.

Cathy’s Corner – October 2022

This newsletter issue focuses on risks and cybersecurity incidents from a business perspective. As a mom, I’ve had to think about and address our risks at home, including cybersecurity. I was surprised at how quickly my son encountered the pitfalls that come along with technology.

Cathy’s Corner – September 2022

September, for many, means the end of summer and “back to business” with the return of kids to school. While many of us enjoy time off and summer vacations (myself included), I know that cyber criminals do not stop. In fact, they often take advantage of our relaxed, guards-down attitudes.
