About Our Team
Providing Computer Support and IT Consulting in New Jersey (NJ)
Our consultants are chosen first for their good communication skills (no geek-speak here!) and friendly client service orientation. Of course, their technical expertise and professionalism are high on our list of critical skills. We work hard to continue their technical and professional development while at IT Radix because we know technology changes rapidly. As technology changes, we need to understand how it will best meet our clients' needs.
Our main office is located in the heart of Morris County New Jersey. Our clients include a broad range of organizations from large to small and span a variety of industry sectors. What they have in common: A need for a reliable IT infrastructure and a good strategy for getting the "best bang for their buck" when it comes to technology.
Let me introduce myself:

Cathy
Managing Member
Cathy has 25+ years of experience in network systems with particular emphasis on local area networking and business applications. With extensive corporate experience at Exxon and Bear Stearns, Cathy works with IT Radix customers to develop their IT best practices without the big corporate price. Read more...
For those of you who don't know Cathy, working with people to develop, maintain and support information technology in a business has always been her passion. Confucius says, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” And this is exactly what Cathy has done…found her perfect niche where she never tires of bringing the best IT services and products to her valued clients. For Cathy, it's about win-win and partnership...getting to know what her clients need and want and then giving it to them!
Cathy founded IT Radix, LLC, in the fall of 2008, realizing the growing need for small-to-medium sized businesses to stay abreast of ever changing technology. Cathy is the trusted IT advisor to many growing businesses in northern New Jersey, bringing commitment, relationships and even some fun to what some may view as a serious industry. "IT can be a dry topic for many, but I think it's exciting to see how the latest and greatest technology can help a business to prosper and exceed their expectations."
Cathy has worked in the IT industry for 20+ years, working at Exxon, Bear Stearns, IBS Interactive and Veraciti. Cathy has an M.S. in Management of Technology from Stevens Institute of Technology as well as a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Duke University. While Cathy doesn't remember much about electrical engineering, she does remember how to solve problems and look at things from different perspectives. Most importantly—never stop learning!
When not working, Cathy enjoys escaping to Vermont to spend time outdoors with her husband, Doug, and son Alex. When not protecting her two cats, Gizmo and Bear, from little Alex's inquisitive hands, Cathy finds time for a wide variety of interests such as photography, reading, scrapbooking, decorating, biking, sailing and cross country skiing… just to name a few.

Jim
IT Consultant
Jim has a total of 25+ years of experience as a computer consultant. Owning his own computer consulting business for 11 of these years gives him great insight to the needs of our small business clients. When not working, Jim enjoys cooking, tinkering with his 1983 Yamaha Virago Classic motorcycle and reading. Read more...
At IT Radix, our IT Consultants are always excited about new challenges that advancements in technology throw our way.
Jim is no exception—he's always up for a good challenge and problem solving is his specialty! Jim’s motivation and "take the bull by the horns" approach to problem solving as well as his commitment to our clients is a quality that we admire here at IT Radix. When asked, Jim states that "his top priority is putting our clients 1st and giving 100% of himself to everything he does!"
With 25+ years of experience as a computer consultant, Jim brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Back in the early 90’s, Jim was heavily involved with component-level repairs-back in the days when it was more cost-effective to refurbish computer components (e.g., circuit boards, floppy drives, capacitors, power supplies, etc.). Jim is a wiz at what makes computers tick! Plus, the experience Jim has gained from owning his own computer consulting business for 11 years is invaluable and helps him understand the needs of our small business clients.
Jim's problem-solving approach carries over to his personal life as well. He's not one to shy away from even his deepest fear! Here's but one example...Jim has always been deathly afraid of heights. So, what did he do?!?!? He took flying lessons! And, if that wasn’t daring enough, he decided to jump right in, so to speak, and parachute! The most fun Jim's had in his entire life has been parachuting (tandem jumping)! Jim's own words... "The first time I jumped, you couldn't get the smile off my face for a week!" How's that for jumping right in and conquering your fears?!?
When he's not working, Jim enjoys spending time at home cooking and tinkering around with his motorcycle (1983 Yamaha Virago Classic). He's loved riding roller coasters since he was a kid at Great Adventure (although, waiting 2 hours for a ride is a thing of the past). Jim also enjoys reading—primarily U.S. history.
Jim's personal philosophy...emulates Abe Lincoln and the ideals Abe stood for. Jim admires Honest Abe's strength to go against the grain to do the "right" thing. We are the "last best hope!"
"I never had a policy; I have just tried to do my very best each and every day." - Abraham Lincoln

Tom Q.
IT Consultant
Tom is the resident Virus Guru here at IT Radix. Truth be known, we have some great virus techs here, but all of them learn from Tom. Read more...
No computers (not even Macs) are impermeable to viruses. Anti-virus software available today is just a piece of the puzzle. It’s not a 100%, clear-cut solution.
Thousands of new viruses are distributed every day, and something is bound to slip through the cracks. And, when they do, viruses aren't easy to remove. They require going into the coding of a computer, and doing some fancy footwork. Tom prides himself on his reverse engineering skills—digging deep into the virus code to determine how it runs and how to effectively remove it.
With a dad as a hardware technician and a mom as a programmer, Tom has literally grown up with computers—programming since middle school and web developing in high school. His expertise is debugging applications and scripting. He’s also played a strong role in the development of our internal processes and procedures.
When not working with computers, Tom enjoys watching movies and hanging out with friends. He is a huge fan of the videogame, StarCraft, a real-time strategy video game based on a plot which is a hybrid of military and science fiction. Tom remains a long-term resident of north Jersey where he resides with his family.
Tom’s personal philosophy: “Have fun and help others.”
“In the seen, there is only the seen,
in the heard, there is only the heard,
in the sensed, there is only the sensed,
in the cognized, there is only the cognized”
