What motivates people to create computer viruses? Well, Identity Theft is a big motivator!
Viruses designed to steal sensitive information sift through the traffic to and from a computer for interesting information such as passwords or credit card numbers. This information is then sent back to the virus creator. “Keylogging” is a common method of stealing information. Keylogging keeps a record of everything that a person types into the computer (i.e. passwords, emails, home banking data, etc.).
